Open Training Program

Cirque Atelier

Cirque Atelier is Wise Fool’s membership-based open training program. Members gain access to the facility during non-class (and potentially non-staffed) hours to train independently within their circus disciplines.

This program is designed for participants who have demonstrated familiarity with their preferred skills and apparatuses, and an advanced level of responsibility and safety awareness. Our studio becomes a playground and laboratory for artists to develop their unique voice and creative practice.

CIRQUE:
sərk (noun) – the French word for “circus”

ATELIER:
at·el·ier (noun) – a workshop or studio used by artists

Who Can Join?

Independent performers, working artists, or community members – with prior approval from one of our coaches. Video submission is required to apply if our coaches are not already familiar with you or your practice.

Adult students who have completed at least 1 full 8-week session of classes with Wise Fool, and who demonstrate an advanced level of responsibility & safety awareness as confirmed by our coaches.

Which Disciplines Can I Train?

Coach approval is needed for any and all High Risk disciplines. These include (but are not limited to) aerial arts, contortion, unicycle, slackline, hand-balancing on canes, stilt-walking, or any other elevated balance discipline.

Ground-based practices do not need coach approval. These can include dance, object manipulation, flow arts, basic strength/flexibility training, or other movement practices.

What Are The Expectations?

Personal Accountability & Safety – Log all training sessions, only train within approved disciplines, and demonstrate safe personal practices. Respect our space!
Attend 2 Meetings Per Year – Meetings are held on a quarterly basis to review policies and build community. Attendance is required at 1 meeting every 6 months.
Review Studio Availability – Do not interrupt scheduled classes, private lessons, or events – check our studio calendar before trianing
Membership Fees – Select between pay-per-use or monthly membership fees.
