Wise Fool is looking for a few folks to join our crew! Are you passionate about Wise Fool's social justice mission and do you have skills in Communications, Social Media, Fundraising, Human Resources, Technical Direction, and/or Studio/Facilities & Operations management? If so, please send a letter of interest and resume to studio@wisefoolnm.org. Wondering why there's no job description? Wise Fool is creating a team-based, strength-based approach to our administrative staffing. Available positions are likely to be part-time.
Wise Fool welcomes internship applications at any time. Interns participate in many aspects of Wise Fool programs, from assisting in youth classes in our studio and in public schools and supporting our performances to community outreach, media management, and general office work. The typical internship is a 20-30 hour per week commitment. Hours flexible and may shift week to week based on performance schedules, activities in the schools, or community events. We build project assignments around intern interests, and also to give a broad perspective on our programs. Time is roughly split between "hands on" activities in classes and performances and experience with the administrative side of running a non-profit organization. Interns are invited to shadow staff in participating in meetings with community partners and schools. Each intern is given a key project or projects where they can work more independently and in-depth.
Examples of intern projects include: coordinating Wise Fool's role in a community coalition for a social action event or march (such as volunteer performance at a camp for youth with AIDS, or stiltwalkers and giant puppets for a social action march), serving as stage manager or assistant for a Wise Fool performance, assistant-teaching circus arts classes at local schools or in the Wise Fool studio, writing about different Wise Fool social justice actions, researching national social justice materials and resources (such as with Circus Now or Stand Up for Racial Justice), writing webpage and enews content, and creating posters and flyers for events.
