LAVA presents A Goddessey, our feminist survival story that journeys through landscapes emotional and geologic carrying a transmuting traveler from a bleak and blurry patriarchal present into a rainbow colored feminist future with the help of ancestors geologic and otherwise. A Goddessey is the synthesis, culmination, and explosion of 15 years of earth-moving feminist acrobatic dance by LAVA.

Visiting performance group LAVA is hosting two FREE workshop in feminist acrobatic dance for adults and youth over 12 years on Sunday May 6th, 2 - 5pm and Wednesday May 9th, 5:30 - 8pm. LAVA performers will share their skills and help participants create a short performance that workshop participants will perform with LAVA at Wise Fool. Participants are welcome to come to either or both workshops.
Participants in the Sunday workshop will perform on Sunday May 13th at 4pm and participants in the Wednesday workshop will perform on Saturday, May 12th at 7pm. All genders and all levels of experience.

Registration now open for BUST!
Join us for this life-changing experience. A seven-week intensive for women, trans* and gender non-conforming folks.
May 19 -July 8th, 2018. An annual program since 2002.
BUST! is a 7-week intensive that uses:
- circus disciplines, (aerials, partner acrobatics, stilt walking, object manipulation)
- physical theater and clowning
- storytelling, puppetry and art making
- embodied discussion
as a way to:
- explore notions of strength and dignity
- build community
- examine femininity
- deconstruct the gender binary, and
- uncover the richness of our full voices
The intensive is open to all those who self-identify as women, trans* or gender- non conforming. All shapes, sizes, ages (16+), and backgrounds are welcome! Absolutely no circus, athletic or performance experience necessary. Classes take place in the evenings and on Saturdays, May 19th – July 8th.
As a culmination of this journey, students create a show to be performed on July 6th and 7th at the Wise Fool studio. No previous circus experience of any kind is required!!
In order to make the program accessible to as many people as possible, this year the course will be offered on a sliding scale $200 – $900. When you register, you will be asked to pay a $200 deposit and then fill out a questionnaire to determine where you best fit on the sliding scale. In some instances we may be able to provide work trade or full tuition assistance. Please email studio@wisefoolnm.org if the $200 is a barrier to your enrollment.
