AND here’s more info…
Calling all youth and pre-professional adult performers! Auditions to be held on Sunday January 29th for CircAspire 2017! This show is the second annual Wise Fool CircAspire production and seeks to provide our youth and adult students and community members the opportunity to be a part of a pre-professional show! Clowns, acrobats, stilt-walkers, jugglers, aerialists, singers, visual artists, actors, spoken word artists, writers, unicyclers, breakdancers, musicians, singers, and more are invited to be a part of the cast and crew that will bring the magic to life onstage and off! There is room for every different skill you can imagine. The show will be held on April 28th, 29th and 30th at the new Wise Fool Studio, and will be written and directed by Sarah Jane Moody and Amy Christian along with an amazing creative production team of professional music, theater, and visual artists.

Who Should Audition: Any current or recent Wise Fool student, age 8-80. Participants in our camps, circus in the schools programs, classes, workshops and intensives are all welcome! You don’t need to be a world-class performer; you do need to be excited to share your voice & vision through performance, and be willing to commit to learning, growing, and working with others in the process of creation. For Parents of Interested Young Ones: This is a pre-professional production so please consider that it does require youth to be capable of focusing for up to 4 hour rehearsals – performing numerous nights in a row – and maturity to be part of a team effort which will require compromise and changes.

We will also need behind the scenes folk who want to share their passion for tech and visual support! So if you or someone you know has skills in that arena, you don’t need to audition, but please be in touch by emailing us at amy@wisefoolnm.org. Interns to help with props and sets, stage hands, and tech wanted!

What’s the Schedule and Time Commitment?
All participants are expected to attend:

– One all cast gathering on Sunday Feb 12 from 2 to 4pm

– Sunday rehearsals, Feb 26 thru and April 23

(12 to 4pm is the tentative time for Sunday rehearsals)

– Tech Week evening rehearsals on April 25 thru 27 (exact timesTBD).

– Four Performances: Friday April 28 at 7pm, Sat April 29 at 2 and 7pm, Sunday April 30 at 4pm

Performers will be required to take an 8-week session of CircAspire Choreography, Creation, and Rehearsal Classes starting February 27th This time will be guided by instructors to help folks will learn choreography and performance skills as well as create and hone their acts. These classes will run

Fridays from 5:30 to 7pm and/or Tuesday from 7:15 to 8:45pm. Which class you will attend depends on what acts you will be performing in.

Performers may also be expected to attend additional rehearsals as needed.

What’s the Show all About: That depends a lot on you! The theme of the show is Finding Human Connection across differing perspectives – Solidarity & Building bridges of understanding in a topsy turvy world. There will be lots of room for performers’ creative voice and we will encourage the sharing of ideas and dialogue on all aspects of how we stand together in the face of our current world reality.

Once we know who and what skills are in the show we will write a rough storyline and cast members will have the opportunity to share ideas and help shape the story at the Feb 12th all cast gathering.

The audition will be conducted in workshop format. Participants will do various exercises led by the Directors. Participants will also be given an opportunity to “show what they do” in a discipline of their choice. This need not be a formal act, just show us a minute or two (at the most) that demonstrates your level of comfort with your preferred apparatus/discipline. Participants are also welcome to bring specific ideas for acts.

What if I can’t make it to the audition? If you’re unable to attend the audition, please fill out an audition form and email Amy – we’ll be in touch.

PLEASE inform us if your youth is planning to be in any other productions this spring and provide us with the schedule of that production at auditions
