Studio Classes


IMG_8123Wise Fool welcomes adults and teens of all ages, genders, fitness and experience levels to join us for ongoing classes in circus arts and theatre!


Please note that our class schedule changes from session to session. Disciplines taught throughout the year may include trapeze, lyra, aerial fabric, acrobalance, physical theatre, juggling, unicycling, handstands, conditioning, and more.

Fall Session

Classes are 1.5 hours, Open Studios are 1.75 hours. Conditioning is 1 hour.

Intro to Aerials

Intro to aerials is the perfect way to start on your aerial journey. A perfect class for beginners, you will try aerial fabric, trapeze, and hoop. The class will focus on basic technique, conditioning, and building body awareness in the air. No experience necessary. Suitable for folks of all body sizes, genders, and fitness levels.

Mixed Aerials

Can't decide which aerial apparatus you like best, this is the perfect class for you. Suitable for all levels, this class will develop skills and choreography on the aerial fabric, trapeze, and hoop. The class will also include conditioning, creative development, and building body awareness in the air. No experience necessary.

Aerial Yoga

Aerial Yoga is on hiatus until September. See you in the sling then!

Aerial Yoga is a great way to take your yoga practice to the next level, or to complement your existing aerial practice. The class is suitable for beginners who have a current or recent movement practice (dance, yoga, sports, etc.) Aerial Yoga stays close to the ground, using soft hammocks and the force of gravity to help you relax deeper into traditional and modified yoga positions. The class will have a meditative feeling and provides a great opportunity to more deeply connect with your body. Instructor Deirdre Morris has a diverse background in dance, aerials, massage therapy and has been teaching aerial yoga for over 8 years. With her multi-faceted awareness of the body, she will help you access alignment, flexibility, and ease in your body.

Acrobalance involves the physical act of sharing weight and balancing between two or more people. We'll explore acrobal­ance from both circus and yoga per­spec­tives, blending trust and con­nec­tion with dynamic play, flex­i­bil­ity for mind and body, and phys­i­cal con­di­tion­ing. Acrobalance will lit­er­ally turn you upside down and give you a whole new per­spec­tive on your poten­tial to be both strong and sup­ported from the ground up into the air.  No experience and no partner necessary! 

Aerial Fabric

Learn or further develop the fundamentals of aerial fabric, sometimes called "silks". This course will include climbing, wraps, foot locks, drops, and poses. From conditioning and basic skills to explorations in choreography, fabrics are a fun way to build core strength and flexibility while defying gravity! Pre-registration is encouraged as classes fill up fast! Sign up for one or more classes per week.

Mixed Level Fabric: suitable for complete beginners all the way through advanced students. 
Fabric 1/2: designed for total beginners or students who are working on sequences 2 & 3, you will learn the fundamental skills and build strength.
Fabric 2/3: for students who are working on sequences 3, 4 and 5.
Advanced Fabric/Rope: for students working on sequences 6 and up, must be able to invert in the air and feel comfortable with multiple drops. Class will include beats and dynamic movement and work on the rope or corde lisse.

Trapeze and Hoop

The quintessential circus discipline, and a great way to build strength and coordination for other aerial apparata. Class includes a dynamic warm-up, floor exercises and aerial vocabulary, technique, and conditioning on static trapeze & lyra/aerial hoop in a supportive, non-competitive environment. Trapeze and Lyra are hung low at 3' to 7' high. No previous experience necessary!

Trapeze 1/2: suitable for brand new beginners or folks working up to sequence 6.

Trapeze 3/4: for continuing students working on sequences 7 and above. Must be comfortable with hanging beats, knee beats, and ankle hang.

New! Lyra, Mixed Level: for folks with some aerial experience either on trapeze or fabric. A class focused on lyra, but will also use trapeze for conditioning and foundational skill-building. NOTE: this is a session-only class, limited to 4 students. Sign up soon to ensure your spot!


This class is suitable for folks at all levels who want to better understand how their body works, set stretching goals, develop active flexibility and increase range of motion. This is a perfect complement to aerial and acrobalance classes.


Whether you're completely new to going upside down or you're looking for a fun way to gain strength and stamina in your handstands, this class is sure to be a fun and tough workout! Handstands can be a very slow but rewarding process and this class will give you the tools you need to work towards better lines, balance and fun shapes.

Unicyling, Juggling & Stilt-Walking

Learn the basics of unicycling, juggling and/or stilt-walking or add on more advanced skills to your juggling and equilibristics practice. Suitable for all ages (7 and up) and all experience levels.

Open Studio

Various instructors

An opportunity to practice what you're learning in classes. Supervised but not a led class. No registration necessary for drop-ins.

$10 drop in for currently enrolled students, or buy a 5 pass for $45 or 10 pass for $85. Open studio passes are valid for a full year.


Private Lessons

Private lessons are $60/hour for one person; $15/hour each additional person. Special rate available for large groups. Contact teachers below for more information.


Always wanted to roll, flip and twist? Now's your chance! This class is suitable for folks ages 12 and up. Ousmane & Nfaly provide safe progressions and work with you at your level to develop your tumbling vocabulary.

Stencil Art
We will learn spray paint stencil art techniques to make our own tee-shirts and banners.  Bring in your boot and bikes and water bottles and decorate your world!
Lisa Smith is a visual artist with years of experience in ceramics, printmaking and puppetry.  She brings lots of passion, joy and heart to her classes.  She had taught various art classes for the past 30 years and has been a Wise Fool youth teacher since 2011.  You can see more

Aerial Rope

with Elise Southwick

An advanced level class for students who have completed Fabric 4 or have previous rope experience. The class includes open drops, momentum, one arm holds and other challenging skills for advanced students.


Not offered this session, but keep your clown eyes posted for future classes. Via the red nose clown, we will explore comedic timing, stage presence, breath, the absurd, problem solving in the clown world, stillness, character development, and improvisation in duos and trios. This class is great for a deeper recognition of who we are and what we have to offer on stage, from circus to Shakespeare. It is all about  authentic expression and tapping into our own inner clown. If you've taken this class with me before, come take it again. Many students do this as there is so much to learn and practice over and over again. All levels welcome.

Youth and Parent Aerials

Sundays, 4 - 5:30pm from October 9th - November 13th.

Want some high-quality family time? Try it in the air! This new parent-child aerial class will give parents a chance to climb like a kid and kids a chance to show their parents the way. Students will learn both trapeze and fabric. The class is suitable for people of all experience levels, and ages 6 through 75. Cost is $180 for the session for each parent/child duo, additional family members are $80.
